Microblading Overview

  • Microblading is a 2-step process and for best results, clients will be required to return for at least one touch-up appointment which must be performed within 6-8 weeks after the initial procedure.

  • Please be aware that color intensity will be significantly darker, sharper, and bolder immediately after the procedure and throughout the first 10 days. This is very common and will reduce by 30%-50% in the following days as your skin heals.

  • Although numbing products are used during the procedure to keep you comfortable, slight sensitivity or discomfort may still be felt by some clients. If you have an allergy to topical numbing products, the service can be provided without them.

  • Delicate or sensitive skin may be red and/or swollen after the procedure. Please plan social events around your procedure accordingly.

  • Microblading can be done over an existing brow tattoo, however the old tattoo must be significantly faded for the hair strokes to show through and look natural. If you currently have microblading or permanent makeup from another artist, we cannot guarantee a successful procedure and ask you to please *email* a clear, well-lit, recent photograph of your eyebrows and wait for our ‘okay’ before scheduling an appointment.

  • You may wear your normal brow make-up to Beauty Lab on the day of your procedure so that we might better understand your preferred outcome.

  • Individual results may vary due to skin type, general health, and proper adherence to the aftercare protocol. No guarantees can be made and additional sessions may be required to obtain optimal results. Additional charges will apply, and no refunds are given for services rendered.

Post-Treatment Aftercare

Microblading is a beautiful work of art, but it is also a wound and must be treated as such.

Days 1-7:

Daily washing is essential to remove bacteria, build up of product and oils, and dead skin. (Don't worry, THIS DOES NOT REMOVE THE PIGMENT!)

After thoroughly washing your hands, gently cleanse your eyebrows each morning and night with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free soap (Unscented Dr. Bronner’s, Cetaphil, or antibacterial Dial.)  DO NOT use any facial cleansers containing acids (glycolic, lactic, salicylic, AHA) or exfoliants.  With a very light touch, use a Q-tip to gently cleanse the eyebrows and rinse with lukewarm water ensuring that all soap is rinsed away. To dry, gently pat with a clean tissue or paper towel.

After cleansing and blotting dry, allow your brows to air dry for 5-10 minutes. After your brows have dried, apply a rice grain amount of aftercare ointment on each brow with a Q-tip and spread it across the treated area. Be sure not to over-apply, as this will suffocate your skin and delay healing. The ointment should be barely noticeable on the skin. NEVER put the ointment on wet or damp brows.

Important Reminders

  • Use a fresh pillowcase, and avoid sleeping on your face for the first 10 days

  • Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate away. Picking can cause scarring or loss of color.

  • No facials, botox, chemical treatments or microdermabrasion for 4 weeks.

  • Avoid hot, sweaty exercise for 10 days. The salt in your sweat will pull out pigment.

  • Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 4 weeks after the procedure. Wear a hat when outdoors.

  • Avoid face-down swimming, lakes, and hot tubs for the first 10 days,

  • Avoid topical makeup and sunscreen on the area on and around your brows.

  • DO NOT rub, pick, or scratch the treated area. This can cause scarring and pigment loss.

  • Avoid long, hot showers for the first 10 days so that you do not create too much steam. Keep your face out of the water while you wash your body, then, at the end of your shower, wash your hair. Your face should only be getting wet at the end of the shower. Avoid excessive rinsing and hot water on the treated area.

  • While it is extremely rare, if any signs of allergy or infection start to develop, please contact your brow artist and doctor immediately.
